Location

Dead Horse Ranch State Park is located in Cottonwood, Arizona, about 100 miles north of Phoenix. The park is easily accessible by car and is close to other popular attractions such as Jerome, Sedona, and the Tuzigoot National Monument.

RV Camping Options

Dead Horse Ranch State Park offers 150 campsites for RVs and tents. The RV sites are equipped with full hookups (water, electric, and sewer) and can accommodate RVs up to 65 feet in length. There are also several group campsites available for larger groups.

Trails

The park has numerous hiking and biking trails that wind through the scenic landscape. The Verde River Greenway Trail is a popular trail that follows the river and offers stunning views of the surrounding mountains and wildlife. For those who prefer a more leisurely stroll, the Lime Kiln Trail is an easy 15-minute walk that passes by the remnants of an old lime kiln.

Events and Things to Do

Dead Horse Ranch State Park hosts several events throughout the year, including fishing derbies, birding festivals, and nature walks. The park is also home to several fishing ponds stocked with rainbow trout, bass, and catfish and is an excellent place to mountain bike.

For those who enjoy water activities, the park has several lagoons and access points to the Verde River. Kayaking, canoeing, and stand-up paddleboarding are popular activities on the river.
