Can you feel it? Spring is finally here after a particularly chilly winter. With warmer temperatures and longer days ahead, there are endless ways to welcome the changing season while on the road. From chasing blooming wildflowers to enjoying outdoor concerts and activities, below we highlight some of the best ways for RVers to welcome spring. Put away those winter clothes, break out your picnic blanket, and get ready to enjoy the delights of spring!

Spring Clean Your RV

No matter your regular RV cleaning routine, nothing beats a good old fashioned spring cleaning. Get into all the nooks and crannies in your storage space, even if you must break it up into small areas at a time. Take the time to go through your all possessions, deciding what to keep, what to donate, and what to replace. Don't forget to take time for your RV's spring maintenance needs, such as checking the roof and sanitizing your water system. If you see any issues during your cleaning, inspection, and maintenance, it's necessary to take care of them before you're back on the road for the year. La Mesa offers services at most of our locations across the country. Click here to find one near you.

Enjoy Spring Activities

Warmer weather brings spring festivals, concerts and similar musical or cultural events that you can enjoy. Whether it's an art show, a local gathering of musicians or just an evening spent enjoying a play or movie in the park, these events allow you to get experience the local culture. Check local Facebook events or the local arts council calendar to see what's available. From 5Ks to cook-offs, there is something for every type of RVer this spring.

Enjoy Incredible Wildflowers

Spring is the season where beautiful wildflowers begin to appear across the United States. We recently published a great guide on the best spots to find amazing wildflowers during this time of year. Check out those details here. Take a hike in any one of these locations and you'll be able to devour these beauties up close and personally. All that to say, make sure that you remain on the trail, and leave the flowers behind for other people to enjoy! These blooms are delicate and only stick around for so long, so take only photos from these destinations.

Go On a Hike

Speaking of hitting the trails, spring is a lovely time to see what's growing. Wildlife babies, flowers, outstanding waterfalls, and warm, balmy air all make for a lovely time out in nature. Start by making sure you've got a solid pack put together with all the things you'll need, going over first aid kits to remove and replace any expired medications, washing out your water bottles, stocking up trail snacks and making sure that you've got the most recent information on the area you're hiking in.

Gain Fresh Flavor at The Farmer's Market

As the earth thaws out and comes back to life, farm stands, farmer's markets, and local foods options grow exponentially. Whether you want some fresh flowers to touch up your RV or local treats to take on your road trip adventures, these local places provide you with a wonderful way to fill out your refrigerator. Look for dips, soup mixes and soaps to be able to take that local flavor on the road with you. Because some farms may not take cards due to low profit margins, make sure that you bring some cash with you. Another thing to remember is to bring your own bags with you so that you can carry your finds back to your RV.

'Spring' Up Your Decor

To a certain extent, RV living means that you've got limits on what you can take with you. But why not freshen up your home-on-the-go's appearance a little by adding some great decor to enhance the season? When you were doing your spring cleaning, you may have noticed a few items that were starting to show their age. Why not replace them with some new items that have some spring touches? New kitchen towels, pillows, outdoor chairs, throws and more can really make you feel fresh and ready to tackle the new season.

Enjoy The Beach

Whether you like to catch the waves with some early season surfing or just want to bask in the sun, heading back to the beach before the busy summer season starts is a great way to enjoy spring weather. Always check the weather before you head out and remember to obtain a permit for beach driving before you try to take your RV on the sand. Looking to hang at your beach front campground? These sun shelters provide you with some shade when you need it, and their small footprint makes them very easy to pack along in your RV, due to their small size and light weight.

Create Spring Flavors

A great opportunity when paired with local flavors, creating a meal that makes the best of spring foods helps you celebrate the season. Consider options such as fresh greens, outstanding early vegetables, and local meats using these handy apps. Hit a local vineyard, microbrewery, or distillery to discover some amazing pairings that provide a great finish to your meal. Whether you're looking at the best citrus and fruit in the south, amazing produce from a local farm or fresh fish off the dock, you'll find great options during the spring season.

Get Out Onto The Water

Book a sunset cruise near the ocean, take a canoe down the river or just splash around with your kayak in a mountain stream, enjoying the water is a great way to celebrate spring weather. There are numerous options available depending on your water preferences - from inflatable kayaks and rafts to rented watercraft or chartered cruises, you can enjoy the water to your hearts desire. Talk to locals to discover the best water opportunities in your area.

Volunteer

It doesn't matter if you're swinging a hammer at the local Habitat for Humanity, helping at the regional library, assisting with a local food shelf or some of the many volunteer opportunities on your travels - volunteering not only changes the world in a positive way, but it also enriches the lives of those you do. Finding volunteer opportunities on the road can be challenging, but Volunteer Match does a great job to make it easier to match up interested volunteers with volunteer groups that need help. If organized volunteering isn't your thing, consider just cleaning up the area you happen to be traveling by taking a bag with on your adventures to collect and dispose of any trash you find along the way.
