Disney's Fort Wilderness Resort and Campground provides a great way to enjoy the outdoors in the heart of Florida surrounded by cypress and pine forests. The campground offers plenty of outdoor fun while also having some notable amenities available, along with exciting events and several dining options. With Magic Kingdom just a few minutes to the north and Animal Kingdom, Epcot, and more to the south, the campground also offers convenient access to Disney World's many attractions.

Getting to the Park


Fort Wilderness Resort and Campground is located at 4510 North Fort Wilderness Trail in Lake Buena Vista, FL, just off Vista Blvd.

  • From the northeast: Take I-95 S to I-4 W to Winter Garden Vineland Rd. to Vista Blvd.

  • From the northwest: Take I-75 S to Florida Turnpike to Winter Garden Vineland Rd. to Vista Blvd.

  • From southeastern Florida: Take I-95 N to Florida Turnpike to World Dr. to Vista Blvd.

  • From southwestern Florida: Take FL-31 N to US-17 N to I-4 E to World Dr. to Vista Blvd.


Campground Rates


How much can you expect to pay for a stay at Fort Wilderness? That depends on the type of campsite you choose and other factors, such as what time of year you go. Camping options include the following:

  • Tent or pop-up campsite: Pop-up camper or camper van-type vehicle and one or two tents

  • Full hook-up campsite: RV and tent

  • Preferred campsite: RV and small tent

  • Premium campsite: Large RVs


In general, campground rates are highest for premium campsites and lowest for tent and pop-up campsites. You might also pay more if you go during a holiday, such as Easter or Christmas. Rates tend to be higher for camping in winter rather than in summer as well. For 2022, rates for Fort Wilderness range from $74 per night to just under $300 per night. Keep in mind that these rates are subject to change.


Camping and Convenience


Disney's Fort Wilderness Resort and Campground combines the rugged experience of camping with the convenience of modern-day amenities. When you stay at the campground, you can find several amenities available to make your stay more comfortable. Some of the amenities the campsites offer include:

  • Complimentary standard parking space per campsite

  • Picnic table

  • Charcoal grill

  • TV and electrical hook-ups

  • Complimentary high-speed internet

  • Cold water tap

  • Safe-deposit box for storing valuables securely


Fort Wilderness also has the following amenities available:

  • Minnie Van Service to get to and from other areas of Disney World

S'mores, Snacks, and More


While you can use your campsite's grill to make dinner and roast marshmallows at the evening sing-a-along, you don't always have to prepare your own meals and snacks. Fort Wilderness offers several dining options to choose from, whether you're looking for a delicious breakfast or a quick afternoon snack.

Enjoy biscuits and gravy for breakfast or a fried chicken dinner at PB&J's Southern Takeout. Pizza, barbecued ribs, and many other entrees are also available. Head to Trail's End Restaurant for a filling breakfast or dinner surrounded by rustic cabin decor. If you're looking for entertainment with your meal, check out Hoop-Dee-Doo Musical Revue, which includes a dinner show with the Pioneer Hall Players.

For a light snack or meal, visit Meadow Snack Bar, which offers simple sandwiches and salads, as well as ice cream and other goodies. The snack bar is located close to Meadow Swimmin' Pool. At Crockett's Tavern, you can load up on chicken wings, nachos, and other tavern snacks. Keep an eye out for The Chuck Wagon, an RV food truck offering s'mores kits, burgers, and other classic campground foods.

Outdoor and Indoor Fun and Recreation


Fort Wilderness Resort and Campground gives you a wide range of activities to enjoy, including indoor fun when you want a break from the outdoors. Visit Davy Crockett's Wilderness Arcade at Pioneer Hall or Daniel Boone's Wilderness Arcade near Meadow Swimmin' Pool to play pinball and classic arcade games, as well as newer video games.

If you want to stay busy in the great outdoors and see as much of the area as possible, you'll have plenty of recreational options to choose from. For outdoor excitement, Fort Wilderness offers the following activities:

Exciting Events at Fort Wilderness


Fort Wilderness Resort and Campground offers some fun events for all ages to enjoy. Whether you want to hang out around a campfire or explore more of the park, the following events are available:

  • Chip 'N' Dale's Campfire Sing-A-Long: Gather around the campfire, roast marshmallows, and do some singing with the Chip 'N' Dale's Campfire Sing-A-Long. This nightly event gives families a chance to meet the pair of famous chipmunks before settling in to watch a classic Disney movie under the stars.

  • Electrical Water Pageant: This spectacular water and lights show takes place in Seven Seas Lagoon, with Fort Wilderness being among the best viewing spots. This nightly show, which lasts for 15 minutes, features sea creatures and classic Disney tunes.

  • Horse-Drawn Excursion: This 25-minute horse-drawn carriage ride takes you through the woodlands and cypress forests surrounding the campgrounds and cabins in Fort Wilderness. The rides take place during the evening hours, giving you a relaxing way to end a day of outdoor recreation during your stay.

  • Holiday Sleigh Rides: During December, these 25-minute sleigh rides offer a festive way to enjoy the campgrounds. The sleigh rides take you through forests decorated with garland and lights.


Pet or No Pets?


Disney's Fort Wilderness Resort and Campground does allow pets for those who visit in RVs. Pets aren't allowed in pop-up campers or tents. Keep in mind that if you bring your pets with you, they need to be on a leash that's 8 feet long or less when they're outside your RV. You'll also need to clean up after them during your stay. The campground charges a small fee per night for pets. If you have pet privileges, you'll be able to bring your pets to Waggin' Trails Dog Park for some off-leash time. Kennels are also available during the day or overnight if you want to visit any areas of Walt Disney World that don't allow pets.
