RVing has exploded in popularity in the last couple of years. It's really no surprise because RVing is an incredible way to travel. From freedom to convenience, RVing ticks all of the boxes for most travel lovers.
Some travelers love camping and an RV is the perfect way to enjoy camping with all of the conveniences of home. While other people simply love to travel and enjoy taking their belongings, food, and bed along for the trip. So whether you view your RV as the most convenient way to camp, or as a rolling condo on wheels, RV travel has something to offer any traveler.

Comfort And Convenience
The number one reason people are drawn to RV travel has got to be comfort and convenience. An RV can be just like a tiny home on wheels with every convenience of home along with you during both the drive to get there and the whole stay. There are no worries about disappointing hotel stays when you travel in your RV!
Two things I have always disliked about road trips with hotel stays are living out of a suitcase and sleeping in unfamiliar and often uncomfortable beds. RV travel solves both of these frustrations. In the RV we always have all of our clothes, toiletries, and belongings neatly stored and ready to use. I also love being able to sleep in my own bed every night no matter where we are located. Those are two small things but they make a huge difference for comfort during a trip.
Another extremely convenient part of RV travel is always having both our kitchen and bathroom with us at all times. On travel days we no longer need to use the gross gas stations or rest stop bathrooms. We can simply pull over and use our own bathroom and grab our lunch or snack out of our own kitchen. This makes travel days so much more comfortable and convenient.
The Lure Of The Classic American Road Trip
Americans have been in love with road trips dating all the way back to the invention of the automobile and back to Route 66 days. It is a classic part of our history. Hitting the road to explore unique attractions along the way has always been a thrill. This is even more of a thrill when you have your RV home on wheels along for the journey. Now you can enjoy the sites without the stress of having to worry about finding the perfect hotels to book along the way.
Traveling in an RV allows you to stay wherever you like. Your tiny vacation home on wheels can be a beach house one trip or a mountain retreat the next. You can enjoy staying in campgrounds with amenities or in the middle of nature. The freedom and possibilities of RV travel are up to your imagination.
The Price Of RV Travel
RV travel can be more economical than other forms of travel. Air travel in the last couple of years has become extremely costly and stressful. With continued issues of canceled flights, stranded travelers, and high ticket prices, an RV road trip is more desirable now than ever!
Hotel stays can also be costly and few have kitchenettes to be able to bring or cook your own food if you desire. Bringing your own food along during an RV trip is a huge cost saving versus eating out for all of your meals during your trip. RV campsites are also much cheaper than hotel stays and some even have resort-style amenities so you don't miss out on anything by skipping a hotel stay.
Our family travels with many food sensitivities and allergies. So bringing our own food along and having all of the kitchen supplies we need to cook during our travels, saves us a lot of money while also removing contamination issues with allergens. This gives us more money to spend on sightseeing versus hotels and restaurants.
RV Travel Gives You The Freedom To Stay How And Where You Like
With RV travel, you can choose to stay close to home or take a cross-country trip. You can book an RV resort with pools, bars, mini golf, shuffleboard, pickle ball, tennis, activities, or even a whole water park if you choose. Or you can choose to RV off-grid in the middle of nowhere with nothing around you but nature.
There is an RV camping style that meets any RV traveler. Some people love to stay where the action is, full of activities, and an action-packed stay. These types of stays are usually found in private campgrounds. Others like to stay with more roomy campsites and nature activities while still often having some campsite hookups. These types of stays are usually found in state parks and national parks.
Some travelers stay for free in parking lots overnight on the way to their destination. These stays although not usually glamorous, offer convenience and savings. Overnight free parking lot options are often found in Casino parking lots, Wal-Mart, or Cracker Barrel. This allows you a place to stay overnight while also grabbing dinner or supplies. Not all locations offer this option though. You can find options by using camping apps such as Campendium. Also, be sure to ask at the location to make sure an overnight stay is allowed.
RVs Can Be Used For Camping Or As A Tiny Condo On Wheels
Most people think about camping when they think about RVs. They picture camp chairs out, grilling, yard games, and campfires. But that is just one amazing way that people use and enjoy their RV.
Some RVers actually aren't campers at all! Some simply use their RV as a really nice place to stay during their travels. The RV is like a mini condo or hotel on wheels that gives them a great bed to sleep in at night at each destination after a day full of sightseeing. Whether camping is the goal of your RV trip, or your RV is just the comfortable vehicle to get you to your destination and stay in while you are there, an RV can be the perfect way to meet your travel needs.
As full-time RVers, we actually use our RV in both of these ways. Of course, our RV is our home but we also use it in different ways depending on where we are staying. Sometimes we sightsee so much that we just come back and crash in our bed just like we would on a hotel trip. While other times we camp in state parks and spend all of our time hanging outside at our campsite doing traditional camping activities and enjoying nature. The versatility of RV travel is incredible.
Your Pets Can Travel With You
A huge benefit of RV travel versus any other form of travel is the ability to bring along your pets. No additional fees or rules to follow, you have complete control and flexibility of having your animal children along for your trip. Traveling with pets is a huge reason many people begin RV traveling.
We don't currently travel with pets but would like to recommend a must-have RV item if you are traveling with pets. RVs sometimes unexpectedly lose power especially due to campground outages and can quickly reach dangerously hot temperatures inside. Don't risk leaving your animals behind without investing in an RV pet monitor that tracks the temperature in your RV and notifies you if there is an issue. An example is Waggle which notifies you instantly by text if the temperature rises in your RV.
Make Amazing Memories Spending Quality Time Together
Today it seems harder than ever to get unplugged and spend quality time together. RV travel is an incredible way to connect to nature, explore outdoor activities, and make new family memories together. An RV trip breaks the daily routine, brings the family closer together in a small space, and opens the door for new experiences.
I don't know about you, but some of my fondest memories that really stuck out to me the most from childhood were the trips and vacations that my family took. Most of the parts I remember the most weren't some huge expensive activity that we did or any souvenirs. The things that really stick out were playing games on a trip, swimming in the pool where we stayed, and getting ice cream. Simple quality time together is what everyone really craves and needs more of. RV camping and travel are great ways to make some amazing memories with those we love most.
